Your first background call can feel overwhelming, but most days follow a familiar rhythm once you know what to look for.
Before you leave home, confirm your call time, location, and wardrobe notes. Pack water, snacks, and anything production asked you to bring. Arrive a few minutes early so you are not rushing at check-in.
On set, you will usually sign in with production or our team, get a quick briefing, and then wait in holding until you are needed. Background work involves a lot of patience — bring a book, charge your phone, and stay reachable.
When cameras roll, follow the AD’s directions, stay in character, and keep movement natural. If you are unsure about something, ask quietly rather than guessing.
Every performer was new once. Show up prepared, professional, and friendly, and you will do great.
